Team Of the Month

Edward Bear (Aussie) just finished his 6 week Shy Dog class. He started out running from all the dogs and people, couldn't stand his rear being touched and would bite if pushed. Last night he went up to a new dog and person, sniffed the dog and then sat down and begged for treats from the person. He worked the entire confidence course (TTeam) which he'd only attempted parts of before, he went through the tunnel for the first time (had never seen it before) and was offering behaviors to everyone in class. And he's been groomed by his owner - no more mats !!!!

The Persistent Pup Socialization Class is designed to help your dog learn to communicate with other dogs. The unfortunate reality is that today dogs are increasingly raised in virtual isolation from other dogs and, as a result, never really learn how to communicate naturally and effectively with other dogs. Because of this, many of today’s dogs are stressed and fearful in the presence of other dogs and often demonstrate it by acting aggressively toward other dogs. To help them overcome this problem we give them experienced, confident dogs to learn from in a nonthreatening supervised environment. We facilitate the class and let the dogs teach it. The results are amazing to watch. Your dog has the opportunity to learn to just be a dog, has a lot of fun, and gets a great deal of exercise in the process.

Back when I was a kid, if you had a dog, what it generally meant was that you put food out for him in the evenings. The rest of the time, he roamed the neighborhood, playing with the kids and carousing with the other dogs. Back in those days, dogs grew up with finely developed social skills. None of the kids managed to get bit and you hardly ever saw a dog fight. Times have changed. The law has changed. Now, if you have a dog, you are required to keep him locked up in solitary confinement. Dogs don't get a chance to develop their social skills. Dog fights and dog bites are epidemic. Many things are taught in the training classes. For most owners, sit, down, stay - anything that will stop the incessant motion - is wonderful. But from the point of view of having a relaxed, confident pet which you can take anywhere you want without them becoming frightened or defensive, there is nothing more valuable than Socialization.

When you sign up for CLASS, CGC, Backyard Sports and Games, Life Without a Leash or Rally Obedience classes, you receive Socialization at no additional charge.
Reactive Dog and Out Of Control class graduates also receive Socialization at no additional charge.

Come join us; your dog will be a better pet because of it.
